We all want glowing, healthy looking skin, especially if you are a beach or pool lover. That requires protection from the ravages of the sun, dirt, heat and pollution. In addition, assisting the body to eliminate toxins is also very important.

Our skin is the largest organ of elimination. It’s also a reflection of our internal health. One thing that will enhance the health of your skin and body is dry skin brushing. When you think about the skin performing a quarter of the body’s detoxification every day, you realize how important that is. It eliminates about 2 pounds of waste acid daily. Dry skin brushing helps the skin perform its tasks more efficiently.  And if you sit at a desk or have an inactive lifestyle, you will really benefit from this.

The Benefits of Dry Skin Brushing

  • Eliminates clogged pores so your skin can absorb nutrients.
  • Increases circulation to the skin so your body can more easily discharge metabolic waste.
  • Stimulates nerve endings in the skin which rejuvenates the nervous system.
  • Improves your skin texture by helping to shed dead skin cells.
  • Helps muscle tone which results in more even distribution of fat deposits.
  • Helps tighten the skin by increasing the blood flow.
  • Lessens the appearance of cellulite. A great alternative to liposuction surgery.
  • Stimulates the lymphatic system which helps purify the entire body.

Getting started…

First purchase a natural vegetable bristle brush. Synthetic bristles can damage the skin. There are many kinds and sizes available. My favorite is one with a long handle to reach all areas of the body, especially the back. Brushes with a removable head and strap for your hand are ideal.

Dry brush your skin once a day, preferably in the morning to get the blood flowing and prior to bathing.

Brush your skin starting from the feet upwards and always brush toward your heart. Brush on the feet and legs upward, on the torso upward, and from the hands toward the shoulders.

Avoid anywhere where the skin is broken or sensitive. Always be gentle, especially when you are just starting dry skin brushing. Your skin will develop more tolerance the longer you do it. Be sure however not to over brush as this can cause redness and irritation.

After bathing or showering, massage the skin with a good quality oil such as almond, jojoba, sesame, olive or Young Living’s V-6 Mixing Oil which is a blend of these oils. One of my favorite oils to use is organic extra virgin coconut oil. Coconut oil is such an amazing oil that it not only helps your skin but has other healing benefits. I make my own body creams by adding a few drops of Young Living Essential Oils like White Angelica, Lavender, Peace and Calming or Joy to name a few. The coconut oil combined with the essential oils makes your skin feel fabulous. However, I must warn you that people will want extra hugs from you because you smell so good!

I also like to use something called Cel-Lite Magic Massage Oil to firm and tone specific body areas. It enhances circulation and helps provide nutrients to reduce fat and cellulite.

One last thing is to remember to clean your brush once a week using a natural soap and water. I like the Thieves Hand Soap for this. It really smelled fresh and clean! Rinse thoroughly. If possible I like to dry it in the sun to prevent mildew.

Make a commitment to yourself today to get your skin and body glowing with dry skin brushing.

Good health to you,

You never know how even a single act of kindness can change someones life.

There are millions of people in this world that could use some kindness shown to them, however big or small. Even simply giving a smile to someone can brighten their day.

On some level we all have a desire to help other people. And there are tons of ways to do that. Find some things you would like to do and then make a heart commitment about it.

For instance, you might want to donate some books to a local shelter or volunteer to read once a week at a local underprivileged school. Some of the local nursing homes may have a program where volunteers can come in to read to elderly people or lead some group activities like light exercise.

You can give monetarily too if possible to someone in need and that is great. Many times people need that in lots of different situations. Personally, if I am going to give money, I do it anonymously. That way they don’t feel the need to repay me. But, the most valuable thing you can give is your time!

So look around and see who needs help or a little joy in their life. You may be amazed at what’s right under your nose. There have been several times I have simply helped someone find something in the grocery store. If you have school-aged children write a note of appreciation to their teacher. How about taking a pie or cookies to your local firehouse? Make a sincere genuine comment about a great job someone did on a project.

When you do even simple things like this, people are so grateful!

Be sure to resist the temptation of judging people based on how they look or dress. You never know when a small opportunity will present itself and what a difference you can make by responding. Things you do that you discount as NO BIG DEAL can turn into something very powerful. Don’t ignore anyone! Look at people with eyes of discernment. Ask yourself? How can I possibly help this person? Every person has value and the kindness you show them may change their life in some way.

Giving gives a euphoric feeling. It changes your whole demeanor. And that is so important especially when doing business. If people see and experience that you have their best interest at heart and want to find ways to serve them and lift them up, they will want to do business with you when the need arises.

If they feel you want to help them regardless if they ever ‘buy’ from you, you become attractive to them and they will never forget you.

Be a friend for many, because you will get far more in return than you could ever give. I believe in you and your dreams!

How many times have you heard people in your downline say they have ran out of people? I personally have heard this many times and also observed that these people have some things in common. First of all, they tend to think negatively. The “Golden Rule” says what you think, you will create. So just by thinking they have ran out of prospects…they have!

Creating a positive affirmation and repeating it several times daily can help counteract negative thinking. So, your affirmation could be something like “I am so happy and grateful now that the people who are looking for me and my products has found me and become my clients or customers”.

Secondly, they keep doing the same things while getting NO results. Albert Einstein basically said this is the definition of insanity. So, if what you are doing is not getting results, STOP what you are doing! Start looking for new opportunities. They are all around you like radio waves. They veer in at you from all directions. But only if you tune yourself into their frequency.

Third, they fail to take the necessary actions. When new ideas come your way…you must ACT. Does this mean you will win? No. And when you don’t win, have you failed? Of course not. Look at the Wright Brothers. It took a couple thousand tries with jeering crowds of people along the way before they succeeded. And there are hundreds of other examples of people who took action and refused to give up.

Just because some networking professionals make 300 to 400 times more income than you do, does not mean they are 300 to 400 times smarter or harder working than you. But there is one difference. These people learned how to look for and act on opportunity. Consider what you do right now and ask yourself … How good am I at doing it? How much better could I be? People who look for and act on opportunity simply made slight adjustments that have created a difference. They act where others do not. They have pushed beyond their fears of whatever held them back. Maybe they started doing videos, face-to-face meetings, joining their local Chamber of Commerce, or a Toastmasters club. These are not big moves. Most success stories aren’t. The point is that they didn’t wait to get it right, they just started.

The people who succeed at attracting a never-ending supply of prospects are positive minded, always looking for new ideas and opportunities and are committed to taking action on their vision. These people never say… “I’ve ran out of people”. Also see my post on… “Do You Have a Success Formula?”

To your success,

Carol Wickett

Everyone, especially now days, is looking for a success formula. And not only are they looking for a success formula, they are looking for a quick one! I don't like to burst people's bubbles… But, I'm going to burst this one. There are no quick formulas that WORK!

However, there is a general five-step success formula that works pretty well… IF you apply and work it.

So here is the 5 steps:

1. Clearly Identify your ultimate goal.

2. Construct a game plan for reaching that goal.

3. Use this plan to set up short-term goals that lead towards your ultimate goal. They should be bite-sized , feasible, and if possible, measurable.

4. Attack each of your short-term goals in order, one at a time, by focusing all your energies on it. Once it is accomplished, move on to attack your next short-term goal.

5. Monitor your overall process toward your ultimate goal as more information becomes available. Consider whether or not you need to modify your game plan. If you modify the plan, change your short-term goals accordingly. Short-term goals are key for your success formula. And meeting these short-term goals is crucial to meeting your long-term goals.

(See my article on ("Seven Steps to Achieving Goals"). Long-term goals supply overall direction and motivation. There is a "Golden Rule" for anyone working towards a goal. And it's this: Always ask this question before you take any action towards a goal…

"Will this help me get get what I choose? If the answer is NO, then don't do it!

To your success,

What will change your life is a new way of thinking and taking control of your focus. If you can get focused, you can accomplish just about anything. But, rather than focusing on tasks, which most people do… Focus on RESULTS!

Here are 3 steps to help you!

1. Look at the situation as it is.

2. Look at the situation as it being better than it really is.

3. Look at the situation as if you already achieved the outcome or result. Develop an effective plan to turn your vision into reality.

To do that here are a couple questions to ask.

1. What outcome or result do I really choose to have?

2. What's my purpose and why do I choose it to be that way?

3. What specific actions must I take now to achieve it? Those who are successful are totally clear about the final results they desire and therefore start with the end in mind. Because they know why they want a particular result they have a burning desire to achieve it. Therefore, it's tied to a specific, clear goal! This in turn creates a certainty of knowing that your dream is about to become a reality.

Because we live in a fast-paced, complex world, we need a system that is not only effective, but simple and easy-to-apply. Instead of reacting to the demands put on us, we need to give ourselves more choices as to how we deal with things and the permission to act on those choices! Asking ourselves soul-searching questions helps define what matters most in our lives.

Questions like…

1. What am I really proud of in my life?

2. What am I grateful for?

3. Whom do I love?

4. Who could I allow to love me?

5. What am I happy about right now?

6. How much better will my life be when I accomplish my dreams and goals?

What makes us truly happy is spending our time, emotions, and feelings on what really matters to us most. Staying focused is how we create the time to do so and is definitely the KEY to getting results!

Everyone would like to be able to predict their future, especially their business future. However, the only way to do that is to CREATE it yourself! How? By learning to map out your direction, build your team, market your products and how and when to expand. Some areas you need to obtain skills in are… Focus, balance, getting clear about your intentions, negotiation and leadership.

First of all, learning to control your FOCUS is key. By doing this, you instantly change the quality of your life. Remember, we get what we focus on, and that determines how we feel. Whatever you are succeeding or failing at right now, no matter what it is, is largely a reflection of what you are focusing on in these areas of your life. And it may be that you are NOT focusing at all! If you are unbalanced in your focus and it's all going in one area, other areas of your life will suffer. This is where the balance comes in.

For instance, if all you ever do is work, then your family or other relationships will be affected. Are you taking care of your body, but not your spiritual needs? Are you focused on marketing, but not looking at your business finances? It doesn't matter if you are stressed or fulfilled in what you do. It's the results you are producing that's important. So, it's just a matter of where your putting your focus and is it balanced?

Focus is very POWERFUL. It can change the way we think, feel and what we do in any given moment. What we focus on will determine the course of our direction. The other areas of sales techniques, negotiation and leadership skills are important, but if you don't MASTER the skill of focus, you won't master these other things.

In a world where people pride themselves on multi-tasking, it becomes difficult to focus on one thing long enough to get a desired outcome. It takes PRACTICE! Start training yourself to do one thing at a time until it's done. Having too many projects going at one time that are not being completed leads to frustration. Master the skill of focus in mundane things as well as your business plan and goals. You will be surprised at the outcome!

I can't say that I was ever a BIG fan of the Grateful Dead, but I have to tell you an article in yesterday's Cincinnati Enquirer caught my eye! So, what can a rock band teach you about marketing? Evidently PLENTY! The Grateful Dead are kinda the pioneers of viral marketing. They made a series of important choices to separate themselves from everyone in their industry. Their success came from doing just the opposite of what other brands and recorded labels were doing at the time, which in turn cultivated their fan base.

So, what did they do? A couple big things was… They GAVE AWAY content and … They put their FANS FIRST! The following is the article I read in the November 14th Cincinnati Sunday Enquirer, which appeared in the business section. Grateful Dead can give you a marketing lesson or two. by David Holthaus "It may have been a long, strange trip, but look where it's led. Sunday night, the latest reincarnation of the Grateful Dead will make it's first appearance together in Cincinnati in 20 years. Maybe it should be required attendance for anyone interested in marketing, building brands, and connecting with customers. Think of it as a offline seminar. After 45 years of building audiences and creating generations of loyal fans, the Dead has suddenly become a business case study. Newly published "Marketing Lessons from the Grateful Dead" (John Wiley and Sons, $21.95) is just the latest book to analyze the phenomenon of the tie-dyed band. It's co-written by marketing strategist David Merrman Scott, who as a student in the early '80's at Kenyou College in central Ohio, spent hours in his dorm room listening to the potent mix of rock, blues, country and psychedelia that is unmistakably Dead. Those hours have yielded insight into how the band not only kept its fans interested, but expanded that base to a whole new generation that barely remembers its deceased leading light, Jerry Garcia. "The Grateful Dead pioneered many social media and inbound marketing concepts that businesses across all industries use today," Scott says. "Every business can learn from what the Grateful Dead has done over a 45-year career."

For example: * The Dead pioneered a "freemium" business model now used by many. Most bands forbid fans from recording concerts. The Dead not only encouraged it, they carved out space where "tapers" could set up sophisticated recording equipment. That built a trading network among fans, creating a powerful word-of-mouth momentum that only whet the appetite for more. * Their business model was the exact opposite of most rock bands. Instead of focusing on selling albums, they created an "experience" centered around live performances. That created a passionate fan base that lasted and grew for years. * They put their customers-their fans first. The Dead bypassed ticket-selling giants like Ticketmaster and sold tickets directly. Hard-core fans got the first news about tours and first crack at the best seats, again driving loyalty. "So many organizations do precisely the opposite," Scott says. "Instead of putting loyal customers first, they ignore them while they try to get new ones." In March, The Atlantic magazine ran "Management Secrets of the Grateful Dead," which quoted Florida business professor Barry Barnes on how he uses the Dead to teach strategy to business execs. "People are just so tired of hearing about GE and Southwest Airlines," he said. 'They get really excited to hear about the Grateful Dead."

If you do more research on Google about the Grateful Dead, you will find lots of information about their marketing strategies and style. But, here are 3 of my favorites that they did.

*Give up control of your marketing messages. Instead of trying to DEFINE yourself with a rigid brand so-to-speak, let the community you are in define and talk about you. The end result will be a larger community of people who follow you.

*Give Gratefully! Giving back to the community and those who follow you is an essential element of your image. A consistent and sustained level of giving has significant benefits for any business.

*Do what you LOVE now! Don't wait to get it right. Your passion will keep you persevering through the rough times. The Grateful Dead taught people to live their own dreams -NOT someone elses. So there you have it… marketing strategies used by a rock band!call.

There are some basic things that never change as far as what customers or clients expect from people they do business with. These things are what I call the core foundation of business. Research shows that customers want reliability and accessibility. In other words, they want you to keep your WORD.

I personally believe a business person/company is only as good as his/their word is. Here is an example of what I am talking about. Recently my daughter was having some car problems and on my advice took it to a well-known place that most people would know the name of. I recommended it because I had great service there in the past. Ok, so there is the word-of mouth. So, she takes her car in, explains the problem and they said we will get you in shortly and give you a call. It shouldn't take that long to check it out. (I picked her up so she didn't have to wait). She waited 3 hours and did not hear anything, so she called only to find out they said they could not hear any noise. She had to go ride with the guy to make sure he heard it. After 4 more hours she finds out the parts they put on were defective from the factory. They had to replace them. The first day was 7 hours. However, the car is NOT fixed. She had to bring it back. And they said, it should not take long, only about an hour or so. That day wound up to be 8 hours long. Unbelievably still the problem is NOT fixed. So, they said there is only one other thing it could be, bring it in, we already have the parts here, it will only take about an hour and a half. Three hours pass and she called only to get told her car would be done by the end of the day. So that day turned out to be 5 and a half hours! It amounted to the better part of 3 days!

Needless to say, she was fit to be tied and will not be a repeat customer. I think this shows the importance of keeping your WORD. If you said a product or service would be delivered in a certain amount of time, do your utmost to keep your word. If problems arise, do not wait till the customer calls you. Call the customer and explain the situation. It's better to under-promise and over-deliver! Remember, your word is your reputation. Protect it! Keep your word and people will keep you!

More people than ever before are looking to make money from home. And many people are introduced to MLM companies. Now if you are already in a company, it would probably be wise to ask yourself the following. Now am I telling you this because I think all MLM companies are bad? No! But there are too many people out their making a lot of promises and too many people are sold into the make money quick with a no work mindset. So please think about what I am about to tell you. Why? Because as the saying goes, 'If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Have you "signed up" in an opportunity and been promised the world? Have you ever heard the words, "we will build your downline for you, and been disappointed when it didn't happen they way they told you? It sounds seductive…but DO not EVER think and do not EVER include in your calculations an estimate that THEY WILL bring even ONE  person under you in ANY PROGRAM.

Have you ever personally sponsored say 45 or more new people and received a check for only $50? How can that be? You were promised a lot more money in a short amount of time. You call your sponsor and they are as clueless as you. You decide to call the company main office, and guess what? NO answers there either, except maybe they are too swamped with internet and phone responses that they can't keep up. And how much money have you invested with a very small return or none at all?

There are so many compensation plans out there, and how many people ask for a copy of the plan and actually read it before they sign? I'll bet not many! And how about the big deal chasers? Are you always looking at the next opportunity that crosses your email? Many do. Why? Because of all those promises! Do you really believe that position is going to make a difference in how your organization builds? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you may want to ask yourself what your purpose is in your downline marketing efforts. They may be in vain. No wonder so many people are casualties of MLM PROMISES causing them to self-destruct and burn out.

So let's get real. Do you feel network marketing is a real business or just a hobby or a way for quick money? If you view it as a real business, treat it like one. That means get some education first. Lack of knowledge about the industry or your opportunity is sure to spell failure. It is difficult if you are looking, not to get enticed by opportunities being thrown at you every minute on the internet. Like I said before, they are very seductive! I am amazed at the people that jump around from one opportunity to the next, hoping it will be THE ONE!

But remember, position does not matter and position does not make you money – especially when most opportunities are set up so that the company and a few select recruiters have unlimited width organizations. These people depend upon the masses to follow them and believe their hype. They know many people are weak and disloyal and uncommitted. They also use that knowledge to their advantage. Lots of people have been victims. So now it's time to make a stand with an opportunity you believe in.

Develop your customer base slowly, persistently, steadily and more importantly – with integrity – by giving loyalty to those who truly are helping you to make money. As one of my mentors taught me "what you give any you get to keep." Building any kind of business, either online or offline is NOT an overnight thing. You need to be in it for the long haul. Are there opportunities that deliver a fast buck? Yes! But ask yourself, 'Where will they be tomorrow?' Where will the person be tomorrow who convinced you to get into the fast buck game? Where will the loyal customers go who wanted to buy from you?

The truth is they found someone else who delivers what they want and is loyal to their desire. Nope, the only way to make money with MLM or any business is to NOT listen to all the seductive promises. Avoid that self -destruct and burn out mode.  Be persistent, be loyal to your opportunity and your customer base and show you are able to make a commitment.

The most powerful force in business is word of mouth. And who doesn't want people "flocking" around them? If people know, like, trust and have a good experience with you (or hear about it from someone else) they promote you and do business with you.

How do you get people to flock around you? Big companies do it with things like logos and huge dollar marketing efforts. But you don't need a multi-million dollar marketing budget to draw a crowd. What you do need is some effective communicate skills and a creative, thoughtful approach to deliver your message.

If you deliver an interesting message with authentic and genuine motives you are going to have people flock to you. So what comes to mind when people hear your name? Or see you? What do they remember about you after a conversation or presentation? Every avenue you use to communicate, whether it's face to face conversations, emails, presentations or phone calls, all send messages about you.

When you communicate, do you have something significant to share? Are you easy to understand? Do people pay attention when you speak? The way you deal and communicate with people builds your reputation. In turn, your reputation should stand for something of value and serve to… Build trust.

Motivate people to speak positively about you to others and promote you. Create business opportunities. If you want to start getting more people to flock around you, start speaking up more. Public speaking at Toastmasters or Rotary Clubs, or Chambers of Commerce is a great way to do this offline. Writing articles or blog posts, and shooting videos giving relevant information are ways to speak up online. So, start sending strong, positive and attractive signals that cut through all the chatter out there today and you will have people flocking around you.
